On Mission Statements
A friend mentioned today that the Chapel, in our quest for excellence in all we do, can be a bit “brutal” to our technical staff. Which brings me around to mission statements. The technical team’s reads something like “… to help others understand and worship to the best of our abilities…”
I don’t know what most people get from this but the way I read it is that we are to take whatever comes our way, technical or interpersonal, and make the best out of it. We aren’t there to draw attention to ourselves or our works, we are there to be transparent and to provide our audience a way to worship without letting “things” get in the way. I think this is well represented in the professionalism of both our technical team and our performing/singing talent. While it takes some getting used to in the beginning, if it helps just one person come closer to God or come back to church, I think my tolerance is well worth it.
