Proggy Fonts are Good Stuff

It’s a fact of life that in my life I spend as much time in front of Eclipse as I do in front of Firefox. I can’t really complain about that in general but after a few hours of working reading a jumble of Courier New text at 8px can become a real chore.
I don’t really notice the font problem as much on Linux at home because the default font selections that the Gnome user interface people used are far easier on the eyes, but they are still less than ideal. After a little bit of digging around the web and trying a few new fonts I have found the perfect font!
Proggy Clean from the folks over at Proggy Programming Fonts is the best thing to happen to my IDE since Eclipse. It’s really clean, well space, unambiguous (no mistaking one, el, eye, zero, oh) and best of all its completely free. I must say that as soon as I switched to this one I was a happy person.
I won’t go out and say that Proggy Clean is the answer to all your programming woes but I will say that it helped me to reduce eye strain and the frustration that happens when all of your code blurs together because your font isn’t very clean. Go give it a whirl!
