Censoring of search results seems to be a pretty heated topic lately and I think it deserves a little reccognition on this blog.

I will start off by saying that I am completely biased against censorship in general. There are rare cases where it is acceptable (i.e. child pornography) but those instances are very rare. I believe that people should have to right to view what they want, when they want it, especially on the internet.

With Google recently creating a Chineese-native version of their search engine they started censoring those results due to government regulations. I understand that Google is pretty much bound by the regulations of the governments in the countries where they operate; it is the same case with any business. I also understand that Google is not willing to shut out a market with over a billion people.

So it boils down to this: Google is obeying the laws of the land in which they operate. Just be glad you don't live in China.
